Saving On Diapers

Diapers...the big money sucker when babies come a long.. I used to joke around with our friends that we couldn't do anything because we were diaper poor. This really wasn't the case, but all the money you spend on diapers can really add up after a while! So here are some ways that I have learned you can really save money on diapers, some before the baby is born (which may be a little late for some of you), and also after they're here.

  • Diaper Rewards Programs: this one isn't necessarily a huge money saver, but I think most of us will take all the help we can get, and a free package of diapers every now and then is always nice! I'm trying to make sure these posts aren't packed too full of information, so my next post will go more into detail on this one. But here's a link in case you want to start early! Huggies Rewards Sign-Up
  • Baby Showers: These are a great way in general to get a lot of things you need for when baby comes, and I'll talk more about getting the most out of your registries in a different blog, but it can also be a good way to stock up on diapers.  I've been to baby showers before where in the invitation they asked everyone to bring a package of diapers with their present in any size. You are asking everyone to pay a little extra money for your shower, but they're your friends and family, so most people aren't going to mind spending a little extra to help you get started with your new life adventure. Besides, it takes a village, right?
  • Diaper Parties For Dads: This is a pretty creative one that I think is a great idea. Let dad have a party with his friends! Get some beer and grill some burgers or something for his friends and ask them all to bring a package of diapers with them. I've seen people assign each guy a certain size as well to make sure that they don't end up with all the packages the same size.
  • Stock Up: This was something that I did to try and lessen the burden a little when the baby came, was stocking up on my own. If you've got a baby coming and you see that the store you're at is having a big sale on diapers and wipes, get some! Start sporadically picking so up here and there. You'll really appreciate that you did it later on. If you want to save even more money though, be productive during some of that time you spend sitting on the couch with your feet up during your pregnancy, and use websites like Swagbucks and Perk to earn gift cards and then use those to stock up on diapers. This is definitely something you can do after your baby is born as well, you just might not have quite as much free time :)

Huggies Rewards Program

I got this package of diapers COMPLETELY FREE!! Wanna hear how?? In my last post I said that I would make a post going more into detail on the diaper rewards programs, so here it is! I'm a Huggies mom, so I'm going to stick to writing about what I know for now and just tell you about Huggies rewards program. So like typical rewards programs, you buy Huggies diapers and wipes and you get points for everything you buy.   Save your receipts because that's how you get your points. You scan your receipt with the app and it usually doesn't take more than a day or two for it to process. What I like about Huggies though is that they give you other ways to get points as well. If you look on their app every so often, they'll give you points for watching videos and reading articles that they've posted. I check everyday just to make sure that I don't miss out on any points! They have prizes other than diapers, like gift cards, but I like to stick with the d...

Tips on Baby Registries

So I have a couple tips on baby registries for you that I found are extremely helpful. Start as many baby registries as possible - this may sound weird, but there are a couple very good reasons. First of all, different stores carry different products. There's going to be different brands and even different items from the same brand at different places. Bottom line, there will be things you like at some stores better than other stores and you should know exactly what all of your options are because it's okay to register at more than one place. Secondly, when you make a baby registry, the store gives you a bag of samples, and we all love those! Some of the best samples they give you are the mini bottles of baby soap, shampoo, and lotion. These are amazing for diaper bags! It's been a few times before where I've been somewhere and my son had such an awful blowout that it was just easier to wash him off in a sink, and I was very glad I had that baby wash in the pock...
